Job Opportunity: CAD Operator / Designer

Our client is a growing renewable energy contractor specialising in commercial solar PV, battery storage and smart energy solutions across the Southeast of England. Due to continued expansion, they are seeking a CAD Operator / Designer to join their technical team based in Orpington.

This is an excellent opportunity for a junior CAD professional, graduate or college leaver to develop their technical design skills within the renewable energy sector, working on commercial-scale projects in a supportive and fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will support the wider technical and design team in the production of CAD drawings, layouts and design documentation for solar PV and battery storage systems, ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance with project requirements.

CAD Designer - Position Remuneration

  • Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 (Depending on experience)
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:00
  • Holiday: 20 days + 8 bank holidays
  • Free parking

CAD Designer - Position Overview

  • Produce and update CAD drawings for commercial solar PV and battery storage systems using AutoCAD
  • Assist in the preparation of technical layouts, schematics and design documentation
  • Support the technical team with the production and updating of project drawings and packs
  • Maintain accurate drawing records, revisions and version control
  • Amend drawings based on feedback from engineers, project managers and site teams
  • Liaise with project managers, surveyors and engineers to support project delivery
  • Ensure all drawings are completed accurately and in line with company standards and project requirements
  • Assist with site-specific design changes and general technical coordination where required

CAD Designer - Position Requirements

  • Previous Experience Using AutoCAD Is Essential
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawing work
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
  • Competent with Microsoft Office applications
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop within the role
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
