About Us
Cox London are designers and makers of unique sculptural pieces of art. At Cox London we design and fabricate individual pieces and limited-edition collections for interior decorators, collectors, and private clients. By nurturing, inspiring, and enriching our relationships with our artisans & craftspeople, our clients, the communities we support, and our partners, our vision is to help shape remarkable interior beauty.
The Role
Your role as CAD Designer is to uphold this vision by ensuring the company’s sculptural pieces of art, and the materials and processes used are represented accurately and efficiently, ensuring our clients enjoy an unrivaled experience during the important early phases of their journey with us.
Reporting to the Design and Estimation Manager, you will be expected to efficiently design and draw the company’s sculptural pieces of art to the required brand standards, maintaining excellent quality and communication for right-first-time manufacturing in our extensive fabrication workshops.
Key Responsibilities
- A comprehensive understanding of materials, processes, and techniques used by Cox London is essential.
- Knowledge of and a keen interest in the design and manufacturing of lighting and furniture, particularly in metal from cast bronze to forged steel and beyond.
- A great communicator: you will be professional, easy-going, and alert, building close working relationships throughout the business from Sales through to shop floor fabricators, in addition to knowing how to conduct yourself in occasional client-facing roles.
- An eye for detail, finish, and form, and an ability to maintain efficient, safe database administration of drawings and shared assets.
- Working within the Design codes of Cox London, you will create bespoke drawings of the standard (Masterpiece) collection, and hand sketch, ideate, and draw up unique commissioned works according to the client brief.
- Preparation of design and manufacturing drawings in AutoCAD and Inventor, and interpret client’s architectural drawings.
- Checking prototypes and work in progress against manufacturing drawings, with the confidence to highlight anomalies with middle management.
- Drafting of accurate, detailed, client-friendly installation and aftercare guidance.
- Liaise with and brief fabricators to ensure drawings are well understood and client expectations are exceeded.
- Understanding and working to meet and improve upon key metrics and departmental KPI’s.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
