Our client, a well-established engineering company based in Boldon Colliery, is seeking an experienced Electrical CAD Engineer to join their engineering team on a permanent basis.
Salary - Up to £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Working Hours -
- Monday to Thursday: 8:30am - 5:00pm
- Friday: 8:30am - 1:30pm
The Role
As an Electrical CAD Engineer, you will be responsible for producing high-quality 2D electrical schematics and interconnection drawings for low-voltage (LV) distribution and control systems. You will interpret customer requirements and technical specifications to develop accurate and detailed engineering documentation that supports both manufacturing and installation processes.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce LV electrical control schematics, interconnection diagrams, and front-of-panel layout drawings from customer and internal specifications.
- Create detailed manufacturing drawing packages, including parts lists and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Utilise AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks to support the electrical design requirements of the Engineering Department.
- Interpret technical specifications and customer requirements to develop compliant design solutions.
- Collaborate with workshop personnel to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and improve electrical equipment design and build processes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to streamline engineering and manufacturing activities.
- Maintain accurate engineering records and documentation using company databases and software systems.
- Work independently to deliver projects within agreed timescales and quality standards.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience using AutoCAD within an electrical engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical control panel design for industrial equipment.
- Ability to read, interpret, and produce LV electrical schematics and interconnection drawings.
- Sound electrical and control systems knowledge.
- Understanding of production engineering practices.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to discuss technical drawings and specifications confidently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- ONC qualification or equivalent.

Desirable
- Experience using SolidWorks
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or industrial engineering environment.
