Role: CAD Lead - Powertrain
At Tata Technologies we make product development dreams a reality by designing, engineering and validating the products of tomorrow for the world’s leading manufacturers. Due to our continued growth, we are now recruiting for a CAD Lead - Powertrain to be based at our customer’s site in Gaydon.
Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
The Role:
Responsible for CAD design and vehicle-level integration of powertrain systems including Cooling, Fuel, and Gas Path components. Ensures robust packaging, interface integration, and CAD quality across the full vehicle development lifecycle.

Area of Responsibility:
- Perform CAD design, packaging, and integration of powertrain systems.
- Conduct package checks, clearance analysis, and interference validation.
- Generate and maintain clearance reports and CAD data quality standards.
- Lead cross-commodity integration with BIW, chassis, thermal, and NVH systems.
- Ensure compliance with vehicle packaging guidelines and OEM standards.
- Perform benchmarking studies and propose innovative solutions.
- Drive feasibility studies, zone layouts, and installation concepts.
- Review and validate 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings.
- Manage engineering changes (ECR/ECO).
- Ensure timely releases, BOM accuracy, and weight management.
- Support prototype builds, vehicle trials, DFMEA, and launch readiness.
- Act as CAD interface with OEM teams and suppliers.
- Mentor team members and ensure technical governance.

Requirements:
Knowledge & Experience:
- 4–8 years of experience in automotive CAD and powertrain integration.
- Strong understanding of cooling, fuel, and gas path systems.
- Knowledge of vehicle packaging and integration principles.
- Experience with plastic and sheet metal design and manufacturing.
- Understanding of GD&T and drawing standards.
- Familiarity with BOM management, change management, and build support.

- Vis Mockup / Digital validation tools

Competencies:
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Ability to work in fast-paced automotive programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / automotive engineering or related discipline.
