CAD Manager

Job Summary

Reporting to the BIM Manager, this role forms part of a high-performing team, delivering cutting-edge CAD solutions for a multi-disciplinary, large-scale project.

As the CAD Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the production, transfer, assessment, and conversion of drawing files
  • Assisting in the management of outputs and ensuring CAD team quality
  • Overseeing drawing production and distribution across the project team
  • Supporting the development of 4D and on-site logistics drawings for efficient project delivery

Key Responsibilities

  • Standardisation & Compliance

    • Develop, implement, and monitor CAD design standards and procedures
    • Technical assurance of drawing quality and project documentation compliance
    • Ensure project standards align with contractual requirements
  • Data & Information Management

    • Provide technical assurance for information within the Project Information Model (PIM), including CDE (Common Data Environment)
    • Support the Information Manager in third-party data delivery and adhering to BIM Execution Plans (BEP)

  • Stakeholder & Subcontractor Support

    • Guide external subcontractor CAD teams on operational and technical compliance
    • Assure incoming CAD data meets BIM objectives
  • BIM & Model Development

    • Produce CAD and BIM models, identifying best practices
    • Maintain documentation records of design deliverables
  • Training & Improvement

    • Educate project managers and engineers in CAD processes and tools
    • Provide technical support for CAD-related queries and communication
    • Promote digital transformation through process optimisation

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in CAD/BIM management tools, e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD
  • Experience in engineering or multi-disciplinary project CAD/BIM environments
  • Familiarity with Manage technical information in high-pressure, high-volume data environments
  • Bentley software (MicroStation) experience
  • Knowledge of construction/rail sector CAD/BIM standards
  • Ability to liaise with supply chain, clients, and third parties
  • UK BIM compliance (ISO 19650 standards)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Recent postgraduate/higher-level studies (HNC/HND or relevant construction subject)
  • Recognised CAD certification
  • Technical & communication skills, including clear written/verbal collaboration
  • Experience managing complex project documents in high-load environments
  • Self-motivated with own initiative and adaptability under pressure
