CAD Technician

Are you a CAD Technician from a Fabrication or sheet metal background looking for your next permanent position? Would working in Widnes be ideal for your daily commute? Have you started your career on the shop floor as a Fabricator/Welder or Sheet Metal professional and worked your way up? Do you have knowledge / experience with using 2D and 3D models? Would a salary of £32500 be suitable for you? Happy working 38.5 hours a week, days only? If you have answered "yes" to all the above questions then please read on and apply. This purpose of the role is to design computer aided technical drawings derived from customer orders in order to support the engineering team in manufacturing and assembling parts for the customer. Using good CAD Management skills in supporting the engineering team.
Duties include,
- To manage each job as own project from start to finish.
- Receive the customer order, read notes, understand requirements to produce a drawing pack, for production and works orders.
- Arrive on time to the office workstation ready to pick up new projects and plan time to manage existing projects already in production.
- Decide on types of drawings for the job or project- 2D, 3D or other.
- Check customer requirements, technical questions (TQ's), etc.
- Design part profiles on software RADAN, subcon, punch or manual work.
- Seek approval of 2D/3D models with the customer.
- Outputting of files for CAM post processing, email for SUBCON to ensure operator has program on relevant machine.
- Ensuring a thorough check of quality of own work every time.
- Oversee the production process giving face to face support on the shopfloor and answering questions.
- Give feedback to senior management on improvement matters eg utilising a better quality product or further material required for the job.
- Undertake any remedial work if required.
- Maintain good housekeeping in work area at all times.
- Ensure the correct PPE is worn if working on the shopfloor.
- Attend regulatory training provided by the company annually and as required. This may be on the job, external or classroom based.
- To work collaboratively as part of a team supporting others when required if they need help.
- To carry out any other reasonable instructions from the dept manager or other Manager.
- To work in safe manner at all times that does not pose a risk to self or others.
