CAD Technician – Bespoke Joinery & Shopfitting
Location: Birmingham, West Midlands Company: [Company Name - Not Specified] Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum
Our client, a well-established, leading shopfitting and bespoke joinery company, is looking for a skilled CAD Engineer/Technician to join their design team. You’ll create detailed technical drawings, 3D models, and fabrication drawings for high-quality interior fit-outs and bespoke joinery projects.
Working within a small, collaborative team, you’ll support the Assistant Works Manager, interpreting technical drawings and 3D visuals from Architects, producing accurate 2D and 3D drawings in AutoCAD and Inventor, and preparing all information for the shop floor to support manufacturing.
This is an excellent hands-on opportunity to be involved in projects from inception to completion, allowing you to play a key role in a highly reputable local business.
CAD Technician – Position Details
- Salary: £30,000 – £37,000 (DOE)
- Hours: 44 hours per week: Mon-Thu: 07:30-17:00, Fri: 07:30-16:00 (Flexible start times available)
- Holiday: 26 days + bank holidays (Time to be allocated over Christmas & New Year)

CAD Technician – Key Responsibilities
- Interpret architectural drawings and 3D visuals to produce accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings using AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar software
- Produce shop drawings, fabrication drawings, cutting lists, and technical details for bespoke joinery and shopfitting projects
- Prepare and release approved drawings and technical information to the workshop and production teams
- Liaise with designers, project managers, clients, and contractors to clarify technical requirements
- Ensure all drawings meet client specifications, industry standards, and internal quality requirements
- Provide ongoing technical support to production teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Support projects from initial concept through to manufacture and installation

CAD Technician – Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a CAD Technician / CAD Engineer / Draughtsperson role
- Experience producing drawings for manufacture (joinery, shopfitting, or metalwork)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings and convert them into accurate working documents
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor (or similar CAD software)
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a small team
