CAD Technician – Sizewell C Project
What You Will Do
Role
The CAD Technician will play a vital role in delivering high-quality engineering drawings and associated schedules that form the foundation of one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects. Working alongside a skilled team of CAD Technicians and Engineers, you will:
- Produce detailed engineering drawings from sketches and technical specifications using industry-standard CAD software
- Generate accurate schedules and take-offs (e.g., concrete reinforcement quantities) supporting material planning and procurement
- Interrogate and work collaboratively with CAD and BIM models to ensure compatibility and consistency across project deliverables
- Prepare sketches documenting setting-out information and as-built records
- Maintain comprehensive records including drawing registers, schedules, specifications, and material take-offs
- Conduct quality checks and produce documentation required for handover of completed works
- Support the identification of submission requirements in liaison with Design and Construction Leads and client representatives
- Contribute to data collection for Key Performance Indicators and project reporting
- Interface with operations teams, health and safety representatives, commercial teams, and external stakeholders including subcontractors and client representatives
- Help develop and embed digital information standards, methods, and procedures specific to Sizewell C's requirements
Optional opportunity: Develop expertise in 3D model production, review, and revision through structured training and mentorship.

- Proven experience with CAD drafting, drawing revision, and quality control processes
- Strong ability to work independently, taking ownership of tasks from initiation to completion
- Excellent communication skills with the capability to clearly articulate safe systems of work and technical requirements
- Proven teamwork capability with the ability to engage effectively across multiple departments and organisational levels
- Ability to work on own initiative, seek out opportunities, and support others where appropriate
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
Technical & Professional Skills
- Proficient in reading, interpreting, and producing detailed construction drawings and schedules
- Strong understanding of construction tolerances and technical specifications
- Demonstrated ability to accurately take off and schedule material quantities
- Familiarity with specification documents, contract terms, and understanding of what constitutes additional works
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental best practices with the ability to identify and report control issues
- Awareness and practical application of BIM concepts and digital working standards
- Ability to produce comprehensive handover documentation and quality records
Experience & Qualifications
- Relevant experience in CAD drafting or engineering design support
- Emerging leadership skills with the ambition to progress toward professional accreditation (e.g., ICE, IHT)
- Ability to understand nuclear/major infrastructure project environments and contribute to safety-critical processes
