CAD Technician

Project
Sizewell C is at the heart of the UK’s clean energy revolution. This landmark nuclear power station in Suffolk will provide low-carbon electricity for millions of homes and play a vital role in achieving the UK’s net zero targets. Supported by EDF and the UK Government, Sizewell C is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to deliver sustainable energy infrastructure at scale.
We are responsible for a range of specialist ground engineering works, including deep soil mixing, plastic cut-off walls, embankments, and load transfer platforms — all of which form essential enabling works for the main power station.
Role Overview
The 3D CAD Technician will be responsible for producing high-quality 2D drawings, 3D models, and construction drawings for specialist geotechnical structures, ensuring compliance with project BIM and CAD standards within the ProjectWise Common Data Environment (CDE).
Working within the Design & Engineering team, the role will collaborate closely with the BIM Manager and Design Manager to support the accurate and timely delivery of design information, contributing to the successful execution of complex geotechnical works on one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects.

Main Responsibilities
Design Production
- Produce detailed 2D and 3D design drawings and models for geotechnical structures including Diaphragm Walls, Plastic Walls, Guide Walls, Cutter Soil Mixing (CSM), and Deep Soil Mixing (DSM) elements.
- Develop Revit models for layout drawings, general arrangements, and design coordination purposes.
- Produce Tekla Structures models for reinforced concrete (RC) cage detailing and fabrication drawings.
- Prepare reinforced concrete and steelwork detailing in accordance with project specifications and applicable standards.
- Ensure all design outputs meet required quality, accuracy, and presentation standards.
BIM & Document Management
- Create, manage, and issue CAD documents within the ProjectWise Common Data Environment, following project workflows and naming conventions.
- Support document review and approval processes under the guidance of the BIM Manager.
- Maintain compliance with the BIM Execution Plan (BEP), CAD standards, and project information management requirements.
- Contribute to model coordination exercises and clash detection reviews as required.
- Ensure design information is maintained, controlled, and issued in accordance with project procedures.
Technical Development
- Maintain awareness of developments in CAD and BIM technologies, industry standards, and codes of practice relevant to civil and geotechnical engineering.
- Support the adoption of emerging digital delivery tools and best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Design & Engineering team.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Comply with all VSL UK and GSA Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.
- Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the GSA's vision and values.
- Promote safe working practices and contribute to a positive safety culture.
- Ensure design outputs consider buildability, constructability, and project requirements.

Candidate Profile
Education & Experience
- Proficiency in Revit or other 3D modelling software for layout drawings, general arrangements, and model development.
- Strong AutoCAD skills for 2D drafting and detail production.
- Ability to work under limited supervision on complex technical tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to drawing quality.
Technical Skills
