Support the delivery of major wastewater and clean water programmes across the UK at Tetra Tech
Purpose And Scope Of The Role
Tetra Tech’s Water Consultancy is recruiting water industry experienced CAD Technicians to join our growing team working across the UK. You will support the delivery of clean water and wastewater projects from feasibility through to outline and detailed design, contributing to major AMP8 and AMP9 programmes that help address pollution, flooding and wider water industry challenges. Working closely with engineers, modellers and other technical specialists, you will produce drawings, models, schedules and diagrams across the project lifecycle, ensuring quality outputs that support delivery for leading water industry clients.
Your Impact In This Position
You will play an important role in delivering high-quality technical outputs that support major water projects and long-term frameworks. In the short term, you will work closely with senior and principal engineers to meet project needs and develop robust CAD outputs. Over time, you will strengthen standards, support junior colleagues and help improve the quality and consistency of delivery across the team.
Core Capabilities
- Technical CAD production – Proven experience producing and modifying drawings, models, schedules and diagrams to support projects through all stages of the design lifecycle.
- Collaboration and communication – Ability to liaise effectively with design teams, understand project requirements and work across disciplines to deliver quality outputs.
- Water industry knowledge – Good understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes, networks and pipelines, with experience in consultancy or a similar engineering environment.
- Standards and quality focus – Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow CAD standards, apply QA procedures and ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Digital and design capability – Proficiency in AutoCAD, with experience of Civil 3D and/or Revit desirable, together with an understanding of BIM, intelligent P+IDs and related data management tools.

Skills, Qualifications And Experience
A relevant HNC in an engineering subject, or equivalent, is required. Experience in the water industry is essential, alongside a full driving licence. Experience in civil and structural design, reinforcement detailing and MEICA design would be an advantage, as would familiarity with construction methods, equipment and materials used in water infrastructure projects.
Work patterns and locations
This role can be based nationally and offers a hybrid working pattern. There will be some requirement to visit clients and Tetra Tech offices as needed to support collaboration, project delivery and business development. Flexible working is considered.
