Skene Catling de la Peña is hiring a CAD Technician/Detail Architect to join its team in London.

About the Practice

Skene Catling de la Peña is an award-winning architectural practice based in London, founded in 2003 by Charlotte Skene Catling. Our work spans residential, cultural, and commercial typologies across the UK and internationally, from Grade I listed interventions and heritage-sensitive contexts to boldly innovative new builds. We are known for a rigorous, research-led approach grounded in materiality, narrative, and sustainability: every project is shaped by the tactile and expressive qualities of its materials, the stories embedded in its site and use, and a genuine commitment to environmentally responsible design, from concept through to detail. Our projects have received wide critical acclaim, including RIBA House of the Year, and featured in Wallpaper, Dezeen, and The Daily Telegraph’s list of Britain’s top architects.

The Role

We are looking for a skilled and detail-driven CAD Technician to join our studio on a full-time basis from August 2026. Working closely with our architects and consultants, you will play a central role in translating design intent into precise, coordinated drawings across all stages of a project and managing construction drawing packages. You will be embedded in a small, collaborative team where technical excellence and an appreciation for craft are equally valued; where detailed design thinking informs even the early stages of a project. We value technicians who think deeply about the problems they are solving and bring an innovative, considered approach to resolving complex design and construction challenges, rather than simply executing instructions. Our current projects include a Grade 1* listed building, therefore experience of and interest in working sensitively within heritage contexts is something we seek in the role.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
