Cafe Supervisor (Part-Time, 30 Hours Per Week) – Defence Site
About the Role We are seeking a dedicated Cafe Supervisor to maintain seamless operations in our Defence site, working part-time (30 hours per week). This role involves ensuring high standards of service, supervising teams, and supporting daily operations in a fast-paced environment.
You’ll join Compass Group UK&I’s ESS division, where we serve diverse clients across military establishments, government sites, secure environments, and energy sector facilities. As a key role in the Defence sector, you’ll contribute vital services to high-profile locations, ensuring staff and visitors receive excellent hospitality and customer care.

Key Responsibilities Your role will include:
- Ensuring all deliveries are checked, stored promptly, and correctly received
- Supervising a team, fostering a positve environment where employees feel supported and valued
- Authorised key holder responsibility, with oversight of facility access
- Assisting with weekly bookwork, payroll, and administrative duties
- Producing weekly rotas in line with managerial guidelines
- Ordering stock to maintain optimal inventory and prevent waste
- Delegating tasks effectively, ensuring a proactive, well-coordinated team
- Complying with Food Handling & Hygiene standards (e.g., ISO 22000 / Food Service Standards)
- Adhering to Health & Safety regulations (workplace & high-risk environments)
- Maintaining accurate record-keeping for stocks, waste, and performance

Ideal Candidate To excel in this role, you should have:
- Previous experience supervising frontline teams in a similar fast-paced environment (e.g., hospitality, catering, or food service)
- Strong ability to communicate clearly and provide exceptional customer service
- A team-player mentality, with a proactive “can-do” attitude
- The ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining a friendly, reliable demeanour
This role requires shifts covering 5 out of 7 days, with fluctuating schedule flexibility (evenings, weekends, and some early starts likely).
