Team Leader – Tesco Café

About the Role

We’re looking for a Team Leader to join one of our Cafés, where a friendly, fast-paced environment awaits. With a passion for providing excellent customer service, a proactive can-do attitude, and great collaboration skills, you’ll help keep everyday operations running smoothly.

You’ll be able to flex and build on your skills and experience, overseeing a wide range of responsibilities. From supporting the Manager to meeting business and financial goals, coaching, developing, and training team members, to leading by example with impeccable customer service, this role is all-encompassing.

Responsibilities

Although responsibilities will evolve with the needs of Tesco, here’s an overview of key duties and expectations:

  • Maintain operational and safety standards to ensure smooth daily functions.
  • Strict adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations at all times.
  • Set an outstanding example by delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Open and close the café, assuming full roles when the Manager is absent.
  • Recognise and celebrate team members for delivering excellent service.
  • Master the menu (inside and out) and train team members to do the same.
  • Contribute to sales growth by optimising workforce positioning and timing.
  • Conduct Health & Safety and Food Safety training for staff.
  • Assist the Café Manager in coaching, supporting, and developing colleagues.
  • Continuously identify ways to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Cultivate an inclusive environment where employees feel respected, valued, and safe.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  • Hospitality background, preferably with Team/Shift Leader experience.
  • A passion for outstanding customer service.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and Food Safety protocols.
  • Personal attributes:
    • Effective communication skills.
    • Ability to multitask under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities.
    • Confidence in driving improvements through initiative.
