Team Member (Café) – Join Our Café Team & Make Every Day Better

About the Role

Tea is brewing. Café doors are opening. The day is about to start, and so can you. Team Members play a vital role within our café, providing exceptional service, preparing delicious food, and contributing to our customer-focused environment.

As a Team Member, you’ll be involved in:

  • A mix of cooking, customer interactions, and behind-the-scenes prep
  • Ensuring every dish meets high standards of quality while adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Keeping workspaces (kitchen, service areas, customer tables) clean, tidy, and ready for guests

We guarantee a minimum of 8 hours per week for new colleagues. Availability is flexible, with 3 weeks’ notice for scheduled shifts. If your preferred times align closely with our required windows, we’d still love to hear from you.

Age Requirement: You must be 18 or over to apply.


Key Responsibilities

Your role ensures café operations run smoothly while delivering a friendly, efficient, and hygienic experience. Core responsibilities include:

  • Kitchen & Service Maintenance

    • Keeping equipment, utensils, and workspace immaculate
    • Clearing, sanitising, and servicing customer tables
    • Managing stock rotation (FIFO) to maintain food freshness
  • Food Preparation & Service

    • Preparing, cooking, and serving dishes as per the café’s menu
    • Ensuring allergens and dietary requirements are accurately communicated
    • Handling deliveries safely and storing food in line with food safety regulations

  • Customer Service & Complaints Handling

    • Delivering friendly, efficient service with care
    • Resolving customer queries and complaints promptly
    • Relaying feedback to the Café Manager where necessary
  • Operational Adherence

    • Following all Tesco Café policies, procedures, and OH&S guidelines
    • Keeping documented records of food safety, stock levels, and daily operations
    • Promptly updating on new initiatives, promotions, or communication messages
