Electronics Engineering Team Lead – Calibration & Maintenance

Location: Stevenage (Manufacturing functional organisation) Salary: ~£50,000 (Dependent on experience) Working Arrangement: Hybrid, 5 days per week on-site (based on workload classification) Security: British citizen with HMG Basic Personnel Security Std (BPSS) requirement

The Opportunity

Join our growing Calibration & Maintenance department at MBDA, leading a team responsible for:

  • Calibrating and repairing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) test & measurement equipment in laboratory settings.
  • Utilising manual and automated calibration (Fluke METCAL software integration required).
  • Ensuring adherence to calibration standards and controls.
  • Collaborating with internal/ external stakeholders on workloads and operational processes.

The Team Lead will be the focal point for technical adherence, compliance, and team management in a rapidly expanding engineering environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers/technicians, fostering technical expertise and good practice.
  • Ensure calibration standards, controls, and equipment specifications are met and evolving.
  • Act as the go-to contact for technical challenges in test/measurement calibration domains, including internal/external communications.
  • Drive process improvement and support compliance audits/standards adherence.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum HNC/HND in electronics engineering (or equivalent).
  • Proven track record of people management (leadership, team development).
  • Deep technical knowledge of test & measurement equipment (theory & practical application).
  • Strong calibration principles understanding (IEC, ISO, or similar standards).
  • Experience in audit management and compliance reporting to relevant industry standards.
  • Experience collaborating with external stakeholders to manage workloads.

Desirable Skills

  • SAP/Jira familiarity regarded as advantageous (systems management experience).
