Parent Peer Support Worker – Part-Time (0.4 WTE)
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the National and Specialist CAMHS OCD, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), and Related Disorders Service—a nationally and internationally renowned leader in paediatric OCD, BDD, and associated disorders. The Parent Peer Support Worker role will leverage lived experience to provide invaluable emotional and practical support to families while inspiring hope for recovery.
The service specialises in the assessment and treatment of young people with OCD, BDD, and related disorders through a multidisciplinary approach. The team includes clinical psychologists, a part-time consultant psychiatrist, and trainees across various disciplines, fostering an environment of support, research, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Firstly, everything from enquiries through to discharge support:
- Offer listening and empathetic guidance to families waiting to access the service, helping them navigate the pathway and understand the process.
- Foster adherence to treatment protocols by collaborating with clinical teams.
- Act as an expert-by-experience on parent support groups, sharing knowledge and encouraging positive change.
- Serve as a parent advocate within the team, ensuring a family-centered perspective informs clinical practice.

Multidisciplinary collaboration:
- Work closely with senior clinical psychologists and psychiatrists. Also, work with:
- trainees from varied backgrounds
- engage in:
- clinical work
- research
- service development initiatives

Based at the Michael Rutter Centre, Maudsley Hospital, the team is large, growing, and deeply committed to:

Flexible Working

- Core hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 6:30pm (may include occasional early starts, late finishes, or weekend work as part of the creditable working pattern)
