CAMP COUNSELOR

Summer Camp Counselor

at Camp Laney

About the Role

Camp counselors live and work closely with campers, providing guidance and care during all cabin activities—including:

  • Morning watch
  • Meals
  • Rest hour
  • Overnight shifts

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Building trust with campers to help them overcome homesickness and develop resilience
  • Ensuring camper safety, hygiene, and well-being (e.g., encouraging showering, meals, and healthcare visits when needed)
  • Monitoring growth and maturity in campers throughout the session

Daily Responsibilities

Working as a camp counselor involves:

  • Leading 8 structured daily activities (sports, crafts, survival skills, etc.)
  • Enjoying two daily off-periods to relax or rest
  • Getting three off-nights per session (6 PM–12 AM)
  • Having a day and a half between sessions for downtime

Job Title

Senior/Curia Junior Counselor (Priority given to current high school seniors or college-aged applicants.)

Mandatory Requirements

✅ Staff Orientation (All first-time counselors must attend)

  • 2026 Orientation Dates: May 22–30 (mandatory for hire)
