Job Opportunity: Portering and Post Team Member

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated people to join our busy post and portering team. As a member of this close-knit team, you will be responsible for portering tasks within the University. It's a busy and active role, with a lot of variety, across two busy campuses where you will be communicating with colleagues and students on a regular basis. During busy times, you can also further develop your skills by assisting the post team on our busy reception.

The Job Will Include

  • Helping to move goods, equipment, and supplies throughout the university
  • Delivering items to different departments or locations as needed
  • Responding to requests for furniture or equipment relocation within the premises
  • Ensuring the safe handling and transport of waste including furniture, electrical items, food recycling, and confidential waste
  • Receiving, sorting, and delivery of incoming and outgoing mail and parcels
  • Driving University vehicles

Work takes place in shifts between 07:00 and 17:00 Monday-Friday so you will need to be available and flexible to work within these times. A rota is released a week in advance to let you know when you will be working.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
