Cancer Care Navigator - Lung Cancer
About The Organisation
Here at NHS Lanarkshire, we put the patient at the heart of everything we do. Each colleague within the organisation plays a key role in how we deliver our healthcare services.
We proudly serve a population of 655,000 across rural and urban communities in both North and South Lanarkshire. NHS Lanarkshire is comprised of:
- Acute Services (which currently provide hospital-based services across 3 main sites)
- Corporate & Property & Support Services
- North and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnerships, which provide integrated primary healthcare and social care services to local communities and surrounding areas.
The Role
This post will contribute to the provision of dedicated person-centred support in the cancer pathway. There is strong evidence of increased patient uncertainty and anxiety during cancer treatment. This post seeks to support communication and coordination of support to patients and families on their pathway. The post will promote connectivity between services within cancer services, local authorities, Health and Social Care, and third-sector providers.
The main objective is to facilitate patient and family support with appropriate support as an integral component as part of the cancer-specific specialist nursing teams.
The post holder will:
- Work with all members of the tumour-specific multidisciplinary cancer teams.
- Ensure a single point of contact is available to people affected by cancer.
- Facilitate the treatment journey, working closely with specialist nursing teams.
- Allow specialist nurses to focus on patient-centred clinical care, enabling patients to receive ongoing accessible support.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
