Canteen Assistant – 24 Hours/week (Part-Time) – Heckfield Place

A beautifully restored hotel on 400-acre farm, in Hampshire, blending heritage with organic principles. The kitchen sources produce from our biodynamic market garden and encourages seasonal, farm-fresh cooking—utilising ingredients creatively to reduce waste.


About the Role

We’re seeking a Canteen Assistant (24 hours/week) to join our team, focused on preparing high-quality, health-focused meals with minimal bought-in ingredients. Dedicated to sustainability, our team maximises seasonal produce while minimising food waste by repurposing leftovers.

This role combines hospitality, food service, and light kitchen prep, primarily in the canteen area, supporting efficiency and cleanliness.


Responsibilities

Day-to-Day Tasks:

  • Prep & Service:
    • Set up the dining area before service, including furniture, trolleys, and equipment.
    • Clean and dismantle service tools post-meal.
    • Prepare hot cupboards and catering stations for efficient service.
    • Contribute to allergen menus và notice boards (daily updates required).

  • Food Service:

    • Assist in serving food during mealtimes.
    • occasionally support food preparation under supervision.
    • Maintain strict adherence to allergen awareness and food safety protocols.
  • Cleaning:

    • Wash dishes, cutlery, utensils, and surfaces in the catering areas.
    • Clean all dining and service spaces to company standards.
  • Compliance:

    • Attend on- and off-site training as needed.
    • Ensure all areas (canteen, kitchen, plate-wash) are kept clean, hygienic, and safe.
    • Provide flexibility for shifts during absences or sickness.
  • Collaborative Roles:

    • Work inclusively oltre chefs and team members.
    • Occasional kitchen prep support.

Requirements & Ideal Candidate

  • No formal experience required, but enthusiasm to grow in a hands-on environment.
