Working closely with the Canteen Supervisor, you'll play an important role in

the day-to-day operation of our busy works canteen and Commonwealth Centre. From preparing and serving breakfasts and lunches to supporting catering for special events and functions, you'll help create a welcoming and efficient dining experience for our colleagues and guests.

This is a hands-on role that requires a positive attitude, excellent customer service skills, and a commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised environment. You'll also assist with financial transactions, stock presentation, and the preparation of dining and catering areas to ensure the smooth running of all catering services.

Some of your key responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve food, drinks, and snacks for daily canteen operations and special catering events.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and create a welcoming experience for all canteen users.
  • Process customer payments accurately and assist with the effective financial management of the canteen.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety across kitchen and dining areas.
  • Support catering activities for meetings, functions, and special events across the site.

What do I need to be successful in this role?

  • Previous experience within a catering, hospitality, food service, or canteen environment.
  • Good understanding of food hygiene, health and safety, and safe food handling practices.
  • Strong customer service skills with a positive and flexible approach.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A reliable, organised, and proactive approach to work.
