Canteen Assistant

Canteen Assistant - Plymouth

£12.71 hourly rate plus £1.94 p/h weekend allowance + £1.94 p/h after 6pm

  • Hours: 31.5 per week (4 days, including weekends)
  • Shift pattern: 8am–2.15pm (twice weekly) and 8am–6.30pm (twice weekly) (Rota provided in advance)

Location: Plymouth depot, Bell Close; Newnham Ind Est, Plymouth, PL7 4JH

About the Role

We’re looking for a Canteen Assistant to join our team at our Plymouth depot.

With around 140 colleagues on site, our canteen plays a key role in keeping everyone fed and happy. If you’ve got kitchen experience and a passion for great service, this could be an exciting opportunity with a company that values people.


What You’ll Do

  • Prepare meals – Cook hot/cold food while following hygiene regulations
  • Manage vending – Ensure food items are stocked for all shifts
  • Maintain cleanliness – Keep kitchens, serving areas, and dining spaces orderly
  • Serve & manage tills – Provide excellent service, handle cash confidently
  • Order supplies – Manage weekly food/provision stock levels
  • Coordinate deliveries – Work with the office to track warehouse food deliveries
  • Perform stock checks – Conduct periodic audits of vending items
