Location & Work Setup
This role is initially based in Bradford but will move to Leeds Valley Park (summer 2026). Hybrid working is in place, with an expectation of being in the office 1–2 days per week.
- Contract type: Permanent (37 hours/week, Monday–Friday)

Within this function, Commercial Excellence leads a Centre of Excellence approach, focusing on:

Your Key Focus: Capability Development
This role centres on designing and embedding frameworks that cultivate growth and talent, ensuring:
- Clear learning pathways.
- Structured progression routes.
- Talent management that elevates performance.
Responsibilities
Core Tasks
- Define and own the Commercial capability framework, including:
- Learning pathways
- Job families
- Progression routes
- Design and embed standards for capability and role expectations.
- Develop structured talent identification, succession planning, and capability development strategies.
- Create and implement frameworks/tools for consistent, scalable capability building.
- Work with leaders to identify capability gaps and prioritise development needs.
- Align capability frameworks with operating models and ways of working.
- Embed frameworks into daily business practices for adoption and consistency.
- Clarify “what good looks like” across Commercial Services.
- Influence leadership to drive capability improvement across teams.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential
- Proven experience designing and implementing:
- Capability frameworks
- Career pathways
- Talent development approaches
- Skills models
- Strong understanding of how people capability impacts performance and delivery.
- Familiarity with capability maturity models or talent frameworks.
- Ability to operate across strategic and operational levels, translating ideas into frameworks.
- Strong influencing skills, aligning stakeholders without direct authority.
- Experience managing complex, multi-team, or matrix environments.
- Ability to translate complex concepts into clear, practical structures.
- Strong analytical thinking for identifying gaps, risks, and priorities.
- Track record of embedding frameworks effectively across teams.

Desirable (but welcome)
- Experience in Commercial, Procurement, or regulated industries.
- Knowledge of change, continuous improvement, or transformation methodologies.
- Experience designing operating models, governance, or organisational frameworks.
