About Tallex

Tallex is an independent, regulated specialist consultancy focused on capital allowances and land remediation relief.

We work with businesses of all sizes, and their professional advisers, across commercial property acquisitions, disposals, portfolios, construction, refurbishments, and fit-out projects.

Our advice-led and client-first service supports our clients by identifying valuable tax relief when they are acquiring, building, or selling UK commercial property. Our work includes advising on live transactions, negotiating the transfer of capital allowances, and carrying out detailed valuation and analysis work to establish what qualifies and manage the claim through to HMRC submission.

Since launching in 2024, Tallex has grown rapidly to become a leading independent practice in the market. We’ve secured over £283m of tax relief on over £700m spent by our clients, advising on 165+ transactions and projects. Our clients include stock exchange listed companies, private equity and venture capital backed businesses, major real estate funds, family offices, international brands, and UK owner-managed businesses.

We are now looking for an experienced Assistant Manager or Manager to join our operations and advisory team in London, to help deliver the next stage of Tallex's growth.

About The Role

This is a technical and client-facing role within the operations and advisory team, involving the delivery of capital allowances advice and reports across commercial property acquisitions, disposals, construction, refurbishment, and fit-out projects. You will also manage junior associates within the team, working with them to complete projects as well as assisting in their development and progression.

The role will include:

  • Managing your own portfolio of clients and projects, delivering capital allowances advice and reports across property acquisitions and capital expenditure projects.
  • Working collaboratively with the business development team and contributing to proposals, networking, client pitches, and introductory meetings.
  • Managing the onboarding of newly engaged clients and agreeing project requirements and deadlines.
  • Preparing and managing information requests and reviewing contracts, cost breakdowns, invoices, fixed asset registers, accounts, tax computations and returns, and other project information.
  • Carrying out site surveys of acquired properties and construction projects where required, with travel across the UK.
  • Managing property valuation and capital expenditure analysis exercises.
  • Reviewing work prepared by junior team members and supporting their technical and professional development.
  • Preparing detailed capital allowances reports and advisory letters.
  • Presenting findings and recommendations clearly to clients and their advisers.
  • Advising on commercial property acquisitions and disposals, including due diligence reviews, tax modelling, capital allowances contract clauses, and elections.
  • Responding to technical queries from clients, accountants, and solicitors, as well as HMRC enquiries where required.
  • Contributing to the development of Tallex’s reporting standards, technical procedures, and internal guidance.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Tallex is an established but young and agile firm. You will work directly with the co-founders, have meaningful responsibility for your own projects, and be supported by experienced specialists across both the technical and business development teams.

We have an exciting growth plan for the business, and the right person will have the support and opportunity to become a long-standing member of the firm, with a genuine route to progress into management and leadership roles in the future.

About You

We are looking for someone with at least two years’ experience within capital allowances, either in a surveying practice, independent boutique, or accounting firm.

The level of appointment will reflect your experience. An Assistant Manager may still be developing their project management and advisory skillset, while a Manager will be expected to manage engagements, client relationships, and junior colleagues with greater autonomy.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience preparing capital allowances claims and reports on commercial property acquisitions, developments, refurbishments, and fit-out projects.
  • A good working knowledge of the capital allowances legislation, the entitlement to claim, and the array of allowances available to different clients and projects.
  • Strong report-writing, analytical, and numerical skills.
  • A willingness to travel to client properties and project sites across the UK when required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the confidence to communicate effectively with clients, accountants, solicitors, and other senior professional advisers.
  • The ability to manage multiple assignments, deadlines, and information requests at the same time and the confidence to work independently and remain accountable for delivery against internal targets and client deadlines.
  • A relevant professional qualification, or progress towards one, would be advantageous. This may include MRICS, ACA, ACCA, CTA, ATT, AAT, or another relevant surveying, tax, accounting, or construction qualification.
