Investment Banking Intern (Commission-Based) - Smithfield Capital Partners

This is a commission-based internship - please read the compensation section before applying.

You will sit inside live mandates from day one. No shadowing from the back of the room. You will work on:

  • Decks and materials - investor presentations, teasers and CIMs for live raises, built to the standard institutional allocators expect
  • Origination - sourcing and screening new mandates, building investor and client target lists, and running first-line outreach alongside the senior team
  • Financial models - building and stress-testing operating models and returns analysis that go in front of real investors
  • Client and investor coverage - genuine face time on client calls and investor meetings, with your own coverage responsibility as you prove yourself

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Compensation - read this first

This role is commission-based. There is no base salary. You earn a share of fees on the mandates you help originate and execute, and commission is uncapped. If you need a fixed salary right now, this is not the right role. If you want real deal experience, real client and investor exposure, and upside tied directly to what you produce, it is.
