An Exciting Opportunity for a ST3+ Registrar in Cardiac Surgery

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and dynamic individual to apply for ST3+ Registrar to work in the Cardiac Surgery Service.

This is an opportunity to consolidate clinical skills in a centre with a strong track record of research and training. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated trainee seeking a long-term career in Cardiac Surgery.

About the Role

The post holder will participate in the effective running of the department with a commitment to the management of patients.

The Clinical Fellow Post

This Clinical fellow post will be for a period of 6 months in the first instance in Cardiac Surgery at Glenfield Hospital.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be supported to meet their own professional-development alongside service needs. They will work cooperatively with colleagues and peers to provide a quality service at Registrar level within Cardiac Surgery. Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience at Registrar level or equivalent and will be expected to work on the Registrar on-call rota.

  • Clerking and assessing acute cardiology admissions
  • Managing inpatients with general and specialist cardiac conditions
  • Reviewing ward patients daily and escalating concerns to consultants
  • Participating in consultant-led ward rounds
  • Helping manage emergency admissions and urgent referrals
  • Contributing to discharge planning and writing discharge summaries
  • Maintaining accurate electronic patient records
  • Liaising with GPs, cardiac physiologists, nurses, and other specialties
  • On-call responsibilities
  • Taking part in cardiology registrar/on-call rotas
  • Reviewing deteriorating patients
  • Research and education excellence
