Cardiology Audit/ Research Administrator

Internal Secondment Opportunity: Cardiology Administrative Support Role

Job Purpose & Overview

This is a 12-month internal secondment opportunity to support the Cardiology research team with administrative coordination. You’ll play a key role in ensuring high-quality secretarial services, including clinical trial coordination, administrative support for clinical team activities, and manual patient file data management.

Key Responsibilities

Core Administrative Support

  • Support the running of clinical trials, including patient identification, initial contact coordination, and data verification.
  • Prepare clinic schedules and post-clinic data updates.
  • Respond to data queries and manage patient file records.
  • Conduct archival duties for clinical and administrative documentation.
  • Assist nursing staff with cardiovascular audit data collection and management.

Engagement & Leadership

  • Act as a point of liaison between patients, GPs, external agencies, and staff.
  • Attend cardiology team meetings for updates and coordination.
  • Contribute to a multi-disciplinary team working towards improved patient care outcomes.

Key Qualifications & Experience

Education/Training/Qualifications (Essential)

  • City & Guilds qualification or Health & Social Care NVQ (Level 3) in a relevant field, along with experience or training in therapy support role

  • Numeracy (Level 2) and Literacy (Level 2) qualifications equivalent to:

    • GCSE Maths/English (grades C/4 or above) or functional skills equivalent
  • Competent IT skills in:

    • Electronic patient records
    • Basic Microsoft Word, Excel, and data collection tools
    • Email management
  • Professional Development: Evidence of continued training/certification within the specialty, including relevant competencies.

Work Experience (Essential)

  • Background in health or social care environment as a therapy support associate.
  • Experience contributing to a multi-disciplinary team.

Desirable:

  • Previous work with complex patient cases.

Skills (Essential)

  • Time management and prioritisation skills to balance complex workloads.
  • Strong written and verbal communication to liaise clearly across teams and patients.
  • Healthcare operational awareness and compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Capacity to solve problems with initiative, working independently or within structured collaboration.
  • Meets agreed deadlines and manages workload efficiently.
