Location: Bromsgrove & Redditch Councils, North Worcestershire Scheme: St David’s House & Queens Cottages (54 Extra Care Housing flats/bungalows)
Job Details
Grade: 4 Salary: £27,254 to £29,540 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) Contract Type: Performs duties according to relevant laws, policies, and Council requirements
About the Role
The Care & Support Worker plays a vital role in delivering personal care, support, and wellbeing services to enhance the quality of life for tenants living independently. The focus is on promoting independence, dignity, and community integration while responding to individual assessed needs.
Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Comply with legislation, regulations, Council policies, and contractual obligations
- Provide daily support as part of a collaborative team, coordinating with colleagues, partner services, and other professionals
- Assist with personal care tasks (bathing, dressing, grooming) while maintaining dignity and respect
- Help with household tasks, including light domestic duties, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment
- Prepare and serve meals while addressing nutrition and hydration needs
- Administer oral and topical medication in accordance with policy and competency assessments
- Offer emotional support, reassurance, and activities to boost wellbeing
- Monitor changes in health or wellbeing, advocating or escalating concerns appropriately
- Contribute to care planning and collaborate with families, healthcare professionals, and managers when necessary

Support & Engagement
- Organise and facilitate recreational/social activities to reduce loneliness and encourage independence
- Work with health and social care professionals to ensure high-quality support for tenants
- Respond to emergency call-outs when on duty, assessing need and taking relevant action (e.g., contacting senior staff or emergency services)
Flexibility Requirements
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required by the service
Important Notes
- This role is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, requiring disclosure of cautions, final warnings, and convictions via the Disclosure and Barring Service before confirmation.
