About Alex Wood House Care Home
Alex Wood House is an exceptional residential care home in Cambridge, offering a family-feel environment, attractive gardens, and outstanding care for all residents.
Located in a quiet nook on Fortescue Road, Arbury, just 3 miles from the city centre, our home provides:
- 24-hour residential care support
- 36 en-suite bedrooms
About the Role
As a Care Assistant, you’ll work under the supervision of the Team Leader to deliver high-quality care tailored to each resident’s unique needs. This includes:
- Continuous assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individual care plans
- Meaningful activity participation to promote engagement and well-being
- Actively embracing Athena’s value of Celebrating Every Individual through personalised care
Career Opportunities

- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care
- Opportunities to transition into CHAPS or nursing roles

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high standards of continuous care, adhering to structured assessment, planning, and evaluation processes.
- Assist residents during meal times, ensuring dietary needs are met.
- Engage in residential activities to foster person-centred care.
- Complete all mandatory training (statutory, developmental, and induction programmes).

What We Expect
✔ A genuine passion for care – residents’ needs must come first. ✔ Experience in a care role is desirable, but we’ll support you to gain NVQ/QCF Level 2 Diplomas in Health & Social Care if you lack formal qualifications. ✔ Excellent verbal and written communication with an enthusiastic and proactive attitude.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary
- Day shifts: £12.71 per hour
- Night shifts: £13.23 per hour
Work Pattern
- 33 hours per week
- 12-hour shifts, working a rota from Monday to Sunday
