Complex Care Assistant – Nottingham (Contract)

Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Complex Care Assistant to support a non-verbal adult client in their home. This vital role involves managing their complex clinical needs, including:

  • Regular monitoring and attention
  • Encouraging alternative communication methods (to support eye gaze technology use)
  • Enhancing the client’s quality of life

Responsibilities

  • Provide inspiring, personalised care to an adult with non-verbal communication needs.
  • Assist with complex clinical tasks under supervision, including:
    • Monitoring and responding to respiratory concerns.
    • Supporting alternative communication methods beyond eye gaze technology.
    • Ensuring the client’s comfort, dignity, and autonomy.
  • Work closely with the media team to share impactful stories of care achievements.
  • Maintain a pro-active, reliable team ethic, demonstrating empathy and patience.
  • Adapt to the client’s unique requirements with confidence and a positive attitude.
  • Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical teams to deliver excellent, compassionate care.

Requirements

Essential

  • A valid full UK driving licence (access to vehicle essential due to geographical remoteness).
  • Equivalent experience in tracheostomy and ventilation support.

Desirable

  • Knowledge or experience with:
    • Performing PEG feeding.
    • Suctioning techniques.
    • Management of indwelling catheters.
    • Manual bowel evacuation processes.
    • Medication administration skills.
    • Safely operating moving & handling equipment.
    • Effective non-verbal client communication techniques.
