Role Description

This is a part-time hybrid role for a Care Assistant, based in Preston with some work-from-home tasks where appropriate (such as documentation or online training). Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with daily living activities
  • Supporting clients with mobility and manual handling in line with safety guidelines
  • Helping clients with meal preparation, medication prompts, companionship, and social engagement, encouraging independence wherever possible

The role involves working with clients who may have dementia or other complex needs, following individual care plans and reporting any changes in their condition. The Care Assistant will maintain accurate records, communicate effectively with the wider care team and family members, and uphold confidentiality and safeguarding standards at all times.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to build trust with clients and work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Candidates should possess Caregiving and Dementia Care skills to support individuals with varying physical, emotional, and cognitive needs.
  • Candidates should possess safe Manual Handling skills and an understanding of basic health and safety practices in a care setting.
  • Relevant care experience in home care, residential care, or community support is beneficial.
  • Formal care-related training or qualifications (e.g., NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care or equivalent) are desirable but not always essential.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including some evenings or weekends, and to travel within the Preston & South Ribble area as required.
  • Basic IT skills to complete electronic records and participate in online training are an advantage.
  • A commitment to person-centred care, safeguarding, and continuous professional development is expected.
