About The Role

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and outstanding person to join our Nursing Home – Holmesview, Broxburn as a Care Assistant. We offer permanent full- and part-time roles as well as bank posts.

Responsibilities

As a Care Assistant, your core duties would include:

  • Promoting the highest standards of care within our nursing home

  • Upholding residents’ rights to dignity, privacy, and choice

    • Ensuring a safe and healthy environment for residents, staff, and visitors
  • Adhering to SSSC Code of Conduct and upholding professional standards

  • Maintaining correct records (e.g., incident reports, daily care logs) as mandated by legislation and company policy

  • Maintaining personal standards in:

    • Appearance (dress code)
    • Professional communication and handling (written and verbal)
    • Personal hygiene and conduct
  • Promptly reporting infections, injuries, or unsafe practices to designated personnel.


Requirements

To succeed in this role, we are looking for candidates with:

Experience & Qualifications

✔ Minimum of 1 year of experience in any elderly care setting (nursing homes, hospitals, or community care) ✔ Open to student nurses interested in gaining insight into the care sector ✔ For Principal Carer roles: · Completion of an SVQ 3 Care qualification · Team leadership experience in the care environment

Essential Skills & Competencies

  • Experience with elderly care, including: · Dementia support & clinical care (if applicable)
  • Time management and prioritisation of tasks
  • Strong problem-solving skills to manage diverse nursing-home challenges
  • Excellent oral and written communication, including report-writing skills
  • Professional, adaptable approach to handling sensitive, varying client needs
