Care Assistant
About The Role
At HC-One, kindness is at the heart of everything we do across our Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist care homes. Our residents are people with their own stories to tell, and by joining us, you’ll help them live with dignity and purpose, while giving something back yourself.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and committed Care Assistant to join our team. Working under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, you’ll support the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of our residents—this includes:
- Personal care: washing, dressing, hygiene, and meal preparation
- Assisting residents with daily activities within the home
You’ll deliver care from the heart, ensuring residents retain their individuality. Your role could involve:
- Assisting limited-mobility residents with mobility support
- Offering comfort and how to a distressed resident
- Providing compassionate end-of-life care
Safeguarding is crucial in adult social care. You must be able to:
- Recognise signs of potential abuse, harm, or neglect
- Understand how to report concerns appropriately
- Know when to escalate if action is insufficient
All colleagues are expected to complete safeguarding training relevant to their role, as well as related supplementary training.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
