Care Assistant (Days) – 44 hours per week (weekends on rota)

Location: Selwood House Care Home, Charlton Down, Dorchester, Dorset

About the Role: Joining Country Court, a family-run business specialising in luxury residential, dementia, and respite care.

We’re looking for compassionate Care Assistants to become part of our 3,300-strong team across 45+ care homes, ensuring residents receive 5-star care in extraordinary environments (from bistros to spas!).


About the Care Assistant Role

You’ll play a pivotal role in enriching residents’ lives at Selwood House, a state-of-the-art home accommodating up to 84 residents. This luxurious care home offers:

  • Residential care
  • Dementia care
  • Short-term respite care

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalised support to residents (daily living, mobility assistance)
  • Contribute to emotional well-being and social engagement
  • Assist at mealtimes, ensuring residents are comfortable and nourished
  • Interact meaningfully (building rapport & trust)
  • Update and develop care plans collaboratively with the team

About You

We’re seeking dedicated individuals who:

  • Willing to commit to long shifts and shift rotation (including weekends)
  • Have strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Excel at building relationships with residents and their families
  • Prefer or demonstrate:
    • Experience as a Care Assistant (ideal, but not mandatory)
    • Understanding of dementia care (familiarity with conditions like Alzheimer’s a plus)
  • Have an NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (current or willing to work towards)
