# Care Assistant – The Pottery Retirement Living Plus (Clevedon, Somerset)
The Vacancy
McCarthy & Stone are recruiting a Care Assistant to join their team at The Pottery, a new Retirement Living Plus development in Clevedon, Somerset.
Opened in 2022, The Pottery offers 57 luxury apartments tailored for residents aged over 70, with top-tier on-site facilities and tranquil surroundings.
Pay & Hours:
- Hourly rate: £13.70/hour
- Bonus: Up to £1.30 extra per hour for evening and weekend shifts
- Flexible hours: 10–25 hours per week (to suit availability)
About the Role
As a Care Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring residents live fulfilling, independent lives while receiving exceptional personalised care. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Supporting housekeeping and domestic tasks (e.g., cleaning) across the estate
- Encouraging residents to participate in health-boosting activities and social engagement
- Assisting with appointments, transport, and shopping trips
- Providing companionship and personalised care based on individual needs
- Ensuring a warm, inclusive, and empowering environment for all residents

About You
We’re looking for passionate, compassionate individuals with:
- A friendly, empathetic demeanour and genuine commitment to supporting older adults
- Ideally previous care/work experience, preferably in a health and social care setting
- A drive for excellence in customer-focused service
- A willingness to appreciate diversity, equality, and inclusion in the workplace
Qualifications & preferences:
- Preferred: QCF Health and Social Care (Adults) Level 2 qualification
- Considered: Equivalent alternative qualifications or substantial relevant experience
