Help ensure young people are heard and their rights respected in the decisions that shape their lives.
As a Looked After Children and Child Protection Advocate, you’ll support children and young people to express their views and influence decisions about their care. Your work will ensure their voices remain central to safeguarding and care planning processes.

You’ll be based in the Borough for 4 days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you’re working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you’ll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents’ lives.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll provide direct advocacy for children subject to Child Protection Plans, Looked After Children and Care Leavers.
- Support young people to prepare for and participate in important meetings such as child protection conferences and pathway plan reviews.
- Ensure their views, wishes and feelings are clearly understood and considered within the safeguarding process.
- Work closely with social workers, carers and other professionals to help resolve issues and ensure young people understand their rights and the options available to them.
- Contribute to consultation and participation work across the service.
- Maintain accurate records and data to track the impact of advocacy work and ensure the service continues to support positive outcomes for young people.

- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Resilience, flexibility and the ability to remain calm when working to tight deadlines or supporting young people through complex safeguarding processes.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to equality and inclusion.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
