Care Home Quality Improvement Manager

Care Home Quality Improvement Manager (Nurse Qualified) – London & Essex

£66,462 plus £5,000 car allowance

We have an excellent opportunity for a Regional Quality Improvement Manager to join our strong and well-established Home Management and Regional Team, supporting 16 Care Homes across our London & Essex region.

Excelcare is a family-owned Care Home group, established for over 34 years. We provide the highest standards of care to older people with various needs, including:

  • Dementia
  • Physical disabilities
  • Mental health issues

By joining us, you’ll become part of the ‘family’, and in return, you can expect:

  • Salary: up to £66,462 per annum
  • Car Allowance: £5,000 (business mileage paid)
  • Hours: 8am – 5pm, Monday to Friday
  • This is an onsite role covering all 16 Care Homes in the region

Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the Deputy Regional Operations Director (DROD), the Regional Quality Improvement Manager will lead and implement the quality strategy across our region, reviewing audit outcomes and actions required under DROD guidance. You will:

  • Provide guidance and support to homes
  • Work alongside teams to improve care delivery and embed quality and wellbeing

Essential Experience Required

This role is exclusively for a Registered Nurse with an active NMC Pin who has:

  • Significant quality assurance experience within a UK care home or nursing home environment.
  • A proven track record in quality management in a care home setting.
  • Demonstrable experience in improving CQC ratings and leading regulatory compliance.
    • ❌ Experience from acute/hospital settings will not be suitable for this position.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Collaborate with home managers to ensure proper knowledge and support based on audit action plans against:
    • CQC Regulations
    • Local authority contractual requirements
    • Company Quality Framework and policies
  • Support completion of audit action plans, including:
    • Identifying support needs in coordination with Regional Operations Director, DROD, and Home Managers.
    • Addressing deficits and required actions to resolve findings.

Performance & Improvement

  • Analyse Clinical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with Home Managers, Care Managers, and clinical teams, and identify trends.
  • Develop and implement Service Improvement Plans for homes rated below required standards.
  • Embed the Personhood Framework to ensure continuous improvement in areas such as:
    • hallmarks of good practice ('Petals').
  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding and adult protection policies, including involvement in investigations and reporting.

Support & Collaboration

  • Provide focused support to care homes as directed, including:
    • On-call duties
    • Crisis management
    • Onsite placements if required
  • Liaise closely with regulatory bodies and external partners (local trusts, local authorities, CCGs) to strengthen communication.
  • Advise on and support Infection Control policies, maintaining links with local authorities and external audits.

Clinical & Leadership Support

  • Assist with nurse development via clinical supervisions, observations, and practice feedback.
  • Develop and monitor Quality-of-Care Pathways from pre-assessment to discharge.

  • Play a role in improving strategies in:
    • Quality, safety, and care delivery
    • Mealtime experiences
    • Lifestyle, hospitality, and housekeeping
    • Learning & Development
    • Sales & Marketing (In collaboration with Regional team members)

About You

Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered Nurse qualification (essential)
  • NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
  • + 2 years clinical and care experience in a Care Home Setting
  • Previous quality auditing experience
  • Sound working knowledge of:
    • Health & Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014
  • Up-to-date knowledge of care and risk assessment
  • Full understanding of CQC Regulations, including Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs)

Travel & Driving

  • Must own a car and hold a full driving licence
    • Car allowance and business mileage reimbursed
    • Required to travel across service sites
