How you'll make a difference
As a Care Leaver Engagement Worker, you will support young people aged 16–25 as they move from care into independent adulthood. You will help them build confidence, develop life skills and access opportunities that enable them to thrive.
You will play a key role in strengthening their independence, supporting stable housing, positive relationships, and engagement in education, employment or training.
What you will be doing
It will be your responsibility to plan and deliver a range of community‑based group sessions, workshops and events for care leavers.
Daily you will liaise with young people to gather feedback to shape engagement activities and develop our Local Offer.
It will be key for you to provide targeted one‑to‑one support alongside Personal Advisors to help young people achieve agreed outcomes.
Day to day you will support young people in gaining access to education, employment or training, as well as housing, health, wellbeing and wider community resources.
Regularly you will provide practical support to care‑experienced parents and young people who may be at risk of homelessness or social isolation.
What we need from you
We require you to hold an NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification, in a relevant discipline or be working towards an appropriate qualification related to the provision of services to children and young people.
It is essential that you have considerable relevant experience of the use of evidence-based practice, working with vulnerable and disadvantaged children, families or young people.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
