Job Title: Care Pathway Specialist (North-West Region)

About the Role

NHS Supply Chain is seeking a strategic and commercially minded transformation / change professional to join our Care Pathway Team at a pivotal time as a Care Pathway Specialist.

This is a key role, supporting our mission to enable smarter, simpler, more connected care.

This is a unique opportunity to influence system-wide care pathway transformation across the North-West, through the appropriate use of MedTech Devices, Products and Solutions available through the national model. Partnering expertly with Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), NHS Trusts, Provider Collaboratives, Clinical Leaders and Senior NHS Stakeholders you will lead, influence and deliver measurable improvements in patient outcomes, productivity and financial sustainability performance.

As a trusted transformation/ change partner, you will collaboratively identify opportunities to redesign pathways, accelerate the adoption of innovation, implement best practice pathway programmes and support NHS organisations to realise meaningful clinical, productivity and efficiency benefits.

Using a consultative stakeholder engagement approach, data and insights you will seek to understand areas of unmet clinical, financial and operational pain points and position mutually beneficial solutions.

You will bring together the latest clinical guidance, best practice and recommendations, from organisations such as the MedTech Directorate at the DHSC, Health Innovation Networks (HINs), NICE, GIRFT, MHRA and the Royal Colleges, to build a compelling clinical, financial and operational case for care pathway transformation. These programmes will drive improvements in population healthcare outcomes, enhance productivity and deliver value for money.

You will lead commercial and clinical engagement at all levels including C-Suite, to identify unmet clinical needs across care pathways, also undertaking significant engagement at the implementation through conclusion of programmes to quantify and sign off the improved pathway in respect of productivity and efficiency value for the NHS with procurement, innovation, transformation and finance teams.

Through collaborative working with NHS stakeholders, you will influence organisations across the region transform patient outcomes. In doing so, you will play a vital role in enabling NHS Supply Chain to achieve its ambition of unlocking £1bn in savings by 2030.

Every day you will…

  • Act as a trusted strategic partner to NHS stakeholders, communicating NHS Supply Chain’s vision and demonstrating how our solutions support local and national healthcare priorities.
  • Build and grow influential relationships with NHS Trusts, Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), commissioners, clinicians and healthcare leaders to identify opportunities for service improvement and value creation.
  • Use a consultative approach to understand NHS stakeholder challenges, uncover unmet needs and develop tailored care pathway solutions that improve patient outcomes and system efficiency.
  • Lead and support the delivery of transformational change programmes, helping NHS stakeholders implement new ways of working and realise measurable benefits.
  • Influence and engage a wide range of senior clinical and non-clinical stakeholders, developing long-term partnerships that drive collaboration and sustainable results.
  • Work closely with category, clinical and commercial teams to align NHS stakeholder needs with innovative products, services and sourcing strategies.
  • Analyse healthcare trends, NHS stakeholder insights and clinical priorities to identify growth opportunities, build compelling value propositions and support strategic decision-making.
  • Support development of robust business cases and financial models that clearly demonstrate return on investment, cost savings and wider healthcare benefits.
  • Identify new opportunities to expand NHS Supply Chain’s impact, coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver additional value for NHS stakeholders.
  • Serve as a key NHS stakeholder resource, gathering feedback, resolving challenges and ensuring a consistently positive NHS stakeholder experience.
  • Create and deliver regional account and stakeholder engagement plans, maintaining regular communication and ensuring alignment with NHS stakeholder priorities.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Care Pathway Service Offer Development, continuously improving our offering to increase NHS stakeholders value, drive adoption and maximise savings and revenue opportunities.

What skills will help you thrive in this role?

  • Strong multidisciplinary communication & relationship-building, stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in account management, business development, consultancy or NHS stakeholder facing roles.
  • Comprehensive understanding of NHS structures, programmes, and priorities, including delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan, with established and credible NHS stakeholder relationships.
  • Commercial acumen, planning and organisation skills to act as an agent to influence change, complimented by core market / data analysis oversight
  • Commercial awareness with a proven ability to identify opportunities and deliver value through financial planning, analysis, modelling and reporting of outcomes
  • Highly organised with strong planning and prioritisation skills, able to manage competing demands, align activity to organisational goals, and adapt effectively to change.
  • Skilled in presenting solutions, building business cases and demonstrating outcomes.
  • Effective project / programme management, negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable working across complex organisations and leading change through influence.
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience within the NHS or healthcare sector, including a strong understanding of patient pathways and commissioning processes; clinical experience is desirable but not essential.
