Care Team Leader

Glencorse Care Home

Glencorse Care Home is a purpose-built care home in Penicuik, providing Residential, Nursing, Dementia, and Respite care for up to 54 residents. Since opening in November, the home has built an excellent reputation, ranking among the top-rated care homes in the region on Carehome.co.uk.

Team Leader (Contract Role)

Key Details

  • Rate: £15.00 per hour
  • Contract: 45 hours per week (full-time equivalent)
  • Shift Availability: Dayshift & nightshift
  • Shift Times:
    • Dayshift: 7:45 AM to 8:00 PM
    • Nightshift: 7:45 PM to 8:00 AM
  • Shift Planning: Two-week rolling rota provided in advance for work-life balance planning
  • Benefits:

Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join Glencorse Care Home as it expands with new units. As the Team Leader for a 9-bedded Care Unit:

  • You will shape the culture, standards, and daily environment of the new unit.
  • Take daily operational responsibility, leading a small, dedicated team (care support workers).
  • Ensure high-quality, safe, and person-centred care delivery.
  • Coordinate care tasks, oversee medication administration, and monitor resident wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate clinical and care records.
  • Act as a visible leader, supporting colleagues and fostering a positive and inclusive environment for residents, families, and staff.
  • Work closely with healthcare professionals to guarantee optimum care standards.

What We Are Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
  • Medication Administration competency (current or eligible to complete)
  • Proven experience:
    • Leading or supervising a care team
    • Coordinating their own caseload in a care setting
    • Supporting colleagues in shift delivery
  • Strong interpersonal and management skills
  • Caring, compassionate, professional attitude
  • Ability to uplift team morale whilst meeting regulatory demands

Desirable Qualities

  • Leadership experience in care homes or similar settings
  • Familiarity with dementia-specific care models
  • Experience with health registration and audit compliance
