Role Overview
Location: Dunkeswell Road, Combe Raleigh, Honiton, EX14 4UQ Salary: £14.77–£15.24 per hour Hours: 36 per week Shifts: Monday, Tuesday, Friday 07:30–19:30 or Monday, Saturday, Sunday 07:30–19:30
The Role of Care Team Leader
As the Senior Care Assistant on shift, you will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality care for our residents. Your key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing resident well-being: Regularly monitor and assess the health, care, and social needs of residents.
- Care planning & medication management: Prepare, implement, and review personal care plans, including administering medication.
- Staff leadership & team support:
- Supervise, coach, and mentor team members.
- Provide guidance and direction during emergencies.
- Collaborate with externally involved care providers and residents themselves.
- Advocacy & person-centred care: Ensure residents’ preferences, needs, and wishes remain at the heart of all care decisions.
- Leadership in critical situations: Be the primary point of contact for staff and residents when immediate assistance is required.

About You: Essential Requirements
To thrive in this role, you must:
- Be a qualified and experienced carer, ideally with:
- A Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care (or equivalent), or
- A commitment to working towards this qualification.
- Demonstrate strong organisation, staff management, and interpersonal skills.
- Show proficiency in:
- Writing, updating, and managing care plans.
- Safe medication administration.
- Possess a passionate commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to residents, their families, and supporters.
Additional criteria:
- Must be eligible to work in the UK.
- Two satisfactory employment references required.
- An Enhanced DBS check must be completed (cost covered by Abbeyfield).
- Any disclosed convictions must be declared; failure to disclose may result in revoked employment.
