About the Role

You’ll lead our Care Team at Penberthy House Residential Care Home, supporting the wellbeing, dignity and daily enrichment of our residents. Based in Newquay, Cornwall, you’ll contribute to a culture where norms and futures are reimagined together, backed by award-winning care and unparalleled opportunities for growth.

Penberthy House offers 40.25 hours available at £15.45 per hour (pro-rata annual leave included).

Responsibilities

Your mission will focus on:

  • Supporting resident’s wellbeing: Ensuring every day is meaningful, safe, and comforting, fostering a sense of home and belonging.
  • Guiding Care Assistants: Empowering your team to provide exceptional personalised care aligned with residents’ individual plans.
  • Social enrichment: Creating daily opportunities for leisure and connection, from conversations to arts and culture.
  • Collaborative culture: Working hand-in-hand with colleagues to enrich residents’ lives and nurture your own professional development.

  • Care experience: Ideally, an NVQ Level 3/SVQ Level 3 in Social Care or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Caring personality: A genuine interest in older people, an aptitude for fostering dignity, and an unwavering commitment to their dignity and respect.
  • Communication skills: Clear, professional, and fitting communication that adapts dynamically.
  • Resilience and collaboration: An ability to adapt, lead, and inspire—valuable in team dynamics.
  • Right to work presence: Applications will only be accepted from UK residents with legal right to work.

Note: Criminal records checks will apply on successful application, including DBS (often called an Enhanced DBS). Sanctuary Housing Association, our parent charity, oversees this process and will cover related costs. This role also requires ongoing adherence to safeguarding policies.
