Make a Meaningful Impact Behind the Scenes at Capital City College

Are you passionate about supporting young people to develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence to make informed decisions about their future?

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Careers and Employability Adviser to join our dynamic Enterprise, Employability and Careers (EEC) team. This is a critical role within our student support services, working with a wide range of learners across post-16 and adult education. You will provide personalised guidance and coordinate high-quality careers education and employability activities that support progression into university, apprenticeships, employment, or enterprise.


About The Role

This role is offered on a part-time (0.4 FTE), permanent basis at our Angel Centre.

Key Responsibilities

You will work closely with the EEC Manager, curriculum teams, and external partners to:

  • Plan and deliver an engaging careers programme aligned with the Matrix Standard and Gatsby Benchmarks
  • Support learners through:
    • Individualised one-to-one guidance
    • Targeted group sessions
    • Events such as careers fairs, employer talks, and university visits
  • Develop learners’ employability skills and enhance widening participation initiatives
  • Speak confidently to groups, deliver sessions in classrooms, and represent the service with employers and university partners

Requirements

  • Provide tailored 1-to-1 careers guidance aligned to individual needs and aspirations
  • Deliver group sessions covering:
    • HE (Higher Education) pathways
    • Apprenticeships
    • Employability skills
    • Enterprise initiatives
  • Advise students on Student Finance and viable bursary support options
  • Organise and coordinate careers events, workshops, and university visits
  • Develop and disseminate digital and print resources to aid career exploration and planning
  • Collaborate with curriculum teams to embed careers education and support Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Incorporate up-to-date Labour Market Information (LMI) into guidance and teaching approaches
  • Monitor impact and outcomes, while contributing to continuous service improvement

About You

We’re seeking a reputable, driven individual dedicated to delivering excellence in service delivery.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum qualification: Hold a Level 6 qualification in Careers Guidance OR a Level 4 qualification in Careers Guidance with a clear commitment to furthering to Level 6 (Applicants without at least a Level 4 or above in recognised careers guidance will not be shortlisted)
  • Demonstrated confidentiality and active listening skills to build strong rapport
  • Students from diverse backgrounds
  • In-depth understanding of post-18 pathways, including UCAS, apprenticeships, and vocational routes
