We are looking for an experienced and motivated Careers and Employability Adviser to join our dynamic Enterprise, Employability and Careers (EEC) team. This is a critical role within our student support services, working with a wide range of learners across post-16 and adult education. You will provide personalized guidance and coordinate high-quality careers education and employability activities, supporting progression into university, apprenticeships, employment, or enterprise.
About the Role
This part-time (0.4 FTE), permanent position is based at our Angel Centre. In this role, you will:
- Work closely with the EEC Manager, curriculum teams, and external partners to design and deliver an engaging careers programme aligned with the Gatsby Benchmarks and Matrix Standard.
- Support learners through one-to-one guidance, targeted group sessions, and by leading key events such as:
- Careers fairs
- Employer talks
- University visits
- Foster employability skills and enhance wider access, ensuring learners gain the tools to succeed in post-18 education, apprenticeships, or the workplace.
- Speak confidently to groups of students and deliver lessons in classrooms.
- Represent the service professionally in front of external stakeholders, including employers and university partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized careers guidance to meet student needs.
- Deliver group sessions on:
- Higher Education (HE) pathways
- Apprenticeships
- Employability and enterprise projects
- Offer expert advice on Student Finance and bursary options.
- Organize and coordinate:
- Careers events
- Employability workshops
- University visits
- Develop and update digital and printed resources for career planning.
- Collaborate with curriculum teams to embed careers education effectively.
- Support staff continuity and professional development through CPD contributions.
- Use updated Labour Market Information to inform guidance and teaching.
- Monitor impact and contribute to continuous improvement of the service.

Requirements & Qualifications
We are looking for a reliable, motivated, and service-oriented individual who thrives in a learner-focused environment. Essential criteria include:
- A Level 6 qualification in Careers Guidance, or
- A Level 4 qualification in Careers Guidance with a commitment to completing Level 6.
- Applicants without a Level 4+ careers guidance qualification will not be shortlisted.
- Strong confidence in communications, especially when:
- Engaging diverse student groups
- Building rapport
- Allaying concerns
- Deep clarity on post-18 pathways, including:
- Applying through UCAS
- Apprenticeships
- Vocational and entrepreneurial routes
- A positive impact mindset and dedication to student success.
