Careers Consultant

The University of Law is committed to preparing students for their careers, offering an outstanding Employability Service that supports students in their job search and long-term professional development. Our Careers Consultants play a vital role in delivering high-quality services that cater to a diverse student body with varied career aspirations. We are looking for a Careers Consultant to join our dynamic team, delivering high-quality careers guidance, workshops and employer engagement initiatives for our diverse student community. This is a permanent role, working 35 hours per week between our London Bloomsbury and Moorgate campuses with the opportunity to work from home one day per week. There will also be a requirement for occasional travel to our other campuses nationally, but specifically Royal Holloway and Reading.

As our Careers Consultant, you will:

  • Deliver a range of careers services including one-to-one guidance, employability workshops, and mentoring schemes.
  • Support student employability through CV reviews, application advice, and interview coaching.
  • Organise and contribute to open days, employer talks, Careers Fairs and networking events.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, alumni, and professional organisations.
  • Support and deliver occasional in-curricular teaching
  • Contribute to national employability projects and initiatives that enhance student career outcomes.

Is this you?:

  • Experience in Higher Education careers counselling and guidance or similar advisory work or experience of professional legal recruitment or the legal sector
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds
  • Knowledge of legal and professional career pathways is desirable
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with students, colleagues and employers
