Personal Care Attendant (Self Employed)


About The Role

Interested in working in and providing personal care and companionship to someone with specific needs?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Household Support & Daily Living:

    • Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating
    • Assist with household chores (cleaning, organising)
    • Help with food shopping (carrier required)
  • Wellbeing & Leisure:

    • Support in walking and/or accessing leisure/outings (e.g., cafés, music-related activities)
    • Help arrange social interactions and encourage independence
    • Assist with pet care (if applicable)
  • Administrative & Practical Tasks:

    • Support with paperwork, forms, letters, and medical appointments
    • Help with basic computer/IT assistance (e.g., managing online tasks)
  • Emotional & Social Support:

    • Provide a non-judgemental, supportive, and trustworthy presence
    • Use empathy and diligent listening skills to build rapport
    • Engagement in humour and friendly conversation to uplift spirits

The individual seeks a friendly, patient, bubbly, and honest caregiver who:

  • Has a genuine enjoyment of conversation, walks, and community outings
  • Has short-term memory challenges and learning difficulties
  • Suffers from depression and would benefit from a cheerful personality
  • Values independence but needs assistance with:
    • Transport (requiring a reliable driver with business insurance)
    • Administrative tasks

Health/Disability Clarification:

  • Client has learning difficulties and cognitive challenges
  • Declares allergies – strict non-smoking house only

Requirements & Skills

Essential: ✔ Honest, reliable, trustworthy, and punctual ✔ Confidentiality and social media policy adherence ✔ Ability to work independently and follow instructions ✔ A welcoming, supportive, and patient manner ✔ Empathetic and good at non-judgemental emotional support ✔ Potential for past caring experience not mandatory – passion for supporting people is key ✔ Flexibility to adapt to variable hours and daily needs

Transport

  • Mandatory: Must have your own car and valid business insurance for client-related work.

Hours & Schedule:

  • 5 hours per week:
    • Thursdays (regular)
    • Second Tuesday of every month
