Cleaning Operative - Yate Shopping Centre

📍 Location: Yate Shopping Centre
🕒 Shift Pattern: [TBC] – 35 hours per week

About the Role
ABM UK, an award-winning facility service solutions company, is seeking a motivated Cleaning Operative to join their team at the Yate Shopping Centre.
As part of the team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining safe, clean, and well-maintained environments for clients across various sites. 🔴 This role is not standard cleaning – it is a demanding physical position requiring ability to work outdoors all year round in a busy shopping centre environment.
Responsibilities
Core Duties

Perform general caretaking tasks, including:
- Litter picking
- Public toilet cleaning
- Service yard upkeep

Conduct indoor and outdoor cleaning, such as:
- Sweeping
- Mopping
- Pressure washing

Maintain public restrooms and common areas to ensure cleanliness

Conduct regular patrols, including:
- Emptying public bins
- Correct separation of waste and recyclables
Ad-hoc & Supportive Tasks

Quickly respond to emergency caretaking issues

Support the maintenance team with tasks such as:
- Steam cleaning
- Gutter cleaning
- Weeding/mossing
- Painting
- Event setup/take down
Operational Requirements
- Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures
- Replenish cleaning supplies as required
- Immediate reporting of equipment malfunctions or damages to management
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
- Adhere strictly to health and safety guidelines
- Demonstrate ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Requirements
Experience and Skills
- Proven experience as a Cleaning Operative or similar role
- Proficient in operating cleaning equipment and chemicals safely
- Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, materials, and best practices
- Excellent attention to detail
- Effective time management and organisation skills
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
