Caretaker – Help Keep Our Communities Clean, Safe and Welcoming
Are you someone who takes pride in maintaining clean, safe and well-presented environments? Do you enjoy being out and about, meeting people and making a visible difference every day? As a Caretaker at Peabody, you'll play an important role in ensuring our estates remain welcoming places for residents to live.
This is a customer-focused, hands-on role where you'll be responsible for maintaining communal areas, carrying out cleaning duties and supporting residents by being a visible and approachable presence across our estates.
What You'll Do
- Carry out cleaning and caretaking duties across internal and external communal areas
- Complete routine lighting checks and replace bulbs where required
- Clean entrances, stairwells, corridors, lifts, bin stores, car parks and other communal spaces
- Undertake litter picking, sweeping and general estate tidying duties
- Report repairs, defects, vandalism and Health & Safety concerns promptly
- Build positive relationships with residents and respond professionally to caretaking enquiries
- Work closely with Neighbourhood and Estate Services teams to support residents' needs
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and in line with company procedures
- Follow COSHH, Health & Safety and safeguarding requirements at all times
- Support wider service delivery across estates as required

What You'll Need
- Experience in caretaking, cleaning or a similar customer-facing environment
- A full UK manual driving licence (essential)
- Knowledge of COSHH and Health & Safety requirements
- Experience using powered cleaning equipment
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and use your own initiative
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work outdoors and undertake physical duties

This role is physically active and involves working across a variety of estates and communal areas. A full UK manual driving licence is essential.
This role requires a Basic DBS check.

If you pass the initial screening, you will be asked to record two short video answers to two questions.
Interviews will be held in person at our Hailey Road Depot, Erith, on Tuesday 11th August.
