Salary: £13.72 per hour Hours: 37.5 per week Flexible shift pattern: Between 7:00am and 7:00pm (start/finish times varied) – Based on site
About the Role
At Amey, we manage facilities for 42 Northampton schools, delivering critical cleaning, maintenance and security services to ensure safe, clean, and compliant environments for students, teachers, and staff.

Our team works in partnership to provide 24/7 services with minimal disruption, facilitating seamless operations for every school.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring smooth running of the school premises
- Performing day-to-day DIY/maintenance and minor repairs, including:
- Furniture fixtures and adjustments
- Simple wall repairs and decor updates
- Maintaining heating, lighting and alarm systems in working order
- Security and safety duties:
- Locking all doors and windows when the building is unused
- Conducting regular security checks to deter vandalism
- Supporting day-to-day operations by:
- Arranging/repositioning chairs, tables or seating as required for meetings/assemblies
- Tidying up afterwards
- Litter picking and cleaning internal and external areas
- Compliance: Ensuring H&S standards are met across the contract's operations

Requirements
We’re looking for individuals who can demonstrate:
✅ Practical DIY/handy skills for basic building maintenance (e.g., furniture repairs, minor decor, alarm checks) ✅ A strong team player mindset – working collaboratively with school staff and Amey colleagues ✅ Flexibility with shifts, including early mornings, evenings and weekends as required ✅ The ability to build strong working relationships with on-site teams ✅ Compliance with UK safeguarding policies and the expectation to pass an enhanced DBS check
