Caretaker & Maintenance Worker – Permanent (Singles Status Grade 4)
Salary: £25,185 - £25,583 per annum (Points 9-10) + £895 allowance Contract: Permanent, full-time (37 hours per week, annualised) Location: The Cavendish School, Eldon Road, Eastbourne, East Sussex, BN21 1UE Working pattern:
- Full-time, term-time only (pro-rata pay for busy term hours)
- Current shift: Early (Mon-Thurs: 6.30am–2.30pm, Fri: 6.30am–2pm)
- Potential for change to a rota system in future

About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, proactive and practical Caretaker & Maintenance Worker to join our Trust’s Site Team at The Cavendish School, Eastbourne.

This pivotal role ensures our premises remain safe, secure, clean, and fully operational for pupils and staff. You’ll provide an effective caretaking and maintenance service, demonstrating expertise in:
Key Responsibilities
- Site Security & Facilities:
- Opening and closing buildings
- Setting security alarms
- Conducting regular building checks
- Maintenance & Repairs:
- Decorating
- General decor repairs and maintenance support
- Collaborating with contractors where required
- Health & Safety Compliance:
- Regular safety checks
- Fire alarm testing
- Meter readings
